FORCLIME collaborates with the University of Papua (UNIPA) and the Cenderawasih University (UNCEN) in Manokwari (West Papua) and in Jayapura (Papua province) and conducted and Introduction Training of the Internship Programme for Students on 17-21 June 2019 in the complex of the Green School in Ubud, Bali. Participants are selected students and fresh graduates that will be posted in Jakarta, Bogor, Kalimantan (east, west and north) and Central Sulawesi offices for several months. The interns will be integrated in ongoing project activities and giving specific tasks within project implementation so that they can gain practical experiences in working in the natural resource management sector. The programme is within the overall cooperation framework with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF).
During the opening session, the German Embassy Development Counsellor Dr. David Tantow, said that the internship programme is “ for capacity development for the students for their future career”. Similar expressions were also mentioned by the representative from the International Cooperation Bureau of MoEF, Ms Anggraeni Oktavia. She suggested to the interns to make the most out of the internship programme to improve and enhance skills and gain experiences. “This is a rare opportunity as not all cooperation programmes provide such internship programme like it is organized by FORCLIME”.
After the introduction training, students will be directly posted in FORCLIME sites and will be supervised by FORCLIME staff working in the different project locations (Jakarta, Bogor, Pontianak, Putussibau, Samarinda, Berau, Tanjung Selor and Palu) they will be given specific tasks by the supervisor in support of FORCLIME programme development and according to their educational background and interests.
