Following on from work started last year, the West Kalimantan Provincial Government continues s improving the project concept note for climate change financing to the Green Climate Fund (GCF). Together with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry on the 10 November 2020 they collaborated to build synergy in an emission reduction programme, additionally, the meeting also aimed to obtain national direction for the proposed project.

Led by the Regional Secretary of the West Kalimantan Province, Mr. AL. Leysandri, the team consisted of the Head of the Environment and Forestry Service, economists and the REDD+ Working Group and was received directly by the Director General of Climate Change Management, Dr. Ruandha Agung Sugardiman. He was accompanied by the Director of Sectoral and Regional Resource Mobilization and the Director of Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Monitoring Verification. During the meeting the team from West Kalimantan presented on the progress of the concept note that had been reviewed by the Secretariat of the National Designated Authority of the Green Climate Fund Indonesia.

The Directorate General of Climate Change Control supports the initiatives and efforts undertaken by the West Kalimantan Provincial Government, through the REDD+ Working Group with GIZ as Accredited Entities, to obtain alternative climate change financing as a sub-national contribution in achieving the national targets for emission reduction as stipulated in the National Determined Contribution.
