Continuing with the preparation of proposals and feasibility studies for climate funding projects that are set to be realized through the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the West Kalimantan provincial Environment and Forestry Service (Dinas LHK) held a recent meeting with the DG of Climate Change Control at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK).
The West Kalimantan delegation was led by the Head of the LHK Service, Mr. Ir. H. Adiyani, MH., and was received by the Secretary of the Directorate-General for Climate Change Management (Sekditjen PPI), KLHK, Mr. Agus Rusli, SPi, M.Sc. in the Sekditjen PPI meeting room at the Manggala Wanabakti building on 24 February 2023. This coordination meeting was organized in order to follow up on the results of a previous meeting between the Dinas LHK and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry that was held back in December 2022 and was intended as a forum for communication and coordination concerning the current state of play of GCF project preparation process. In addition, the meeting was also organized as a way of determining the future direction of the various stages and steps involved in the implementation of the GCF project in West Kalimantan.
During the meeting, the Head of Dinas LHK reaffirmed the commitment of the West Kalimantan Provincial Government to contributing to this project and to supporting national programmes that relate to the achieving of the FOLU Net Sink 2030 and NDC targets. In addition, various proposals for project partner candidates to work in conjunction with the West Kalimantan Provincial Government during the implementation of the GCF were also submitted during the meeting. Finally, a focal point for the GCF project at the Directorate-General of Climate Change Management at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry was proposed.
