GIZ FORCLIME and WWF jointly organized and conducted a GIS basics training for 28 civil servants of the Government of Malinau district from 23rd to 27th May 2011. The training was hosted by the district development planning agency (Bappeda), with participants coming from several Government agencies such as mining, plantations, environment as well as forestry.
The training was officially opened by the Malinau Government’s Secretary Mr. Udau Robinson. The participants were introduced to GIS basics like creating vector data from raster data, adding and editing attribute data, creating first queries as well as conducting basic GPS surveys. After passing a final test the participants received a certificate for successfully completing the training course. The participants expressed their hope to receive advanced trainings soon.
