The Forestry Service of West Kalimantan Province conducted a two-day training on “Preparing Social Forestry Management Plans” on 19-20 July in Pontianak. The training was supported by FORCLIME and attended by forestry extension workers, field coordinators and representatives of local NGOs. The training aimed to enhance capacities of the forestry extension workers related to social forestry management. As stipulated on the decree of the Director General for Social Forestry and Environmental Partnership of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (No. P.6/2016), social forestry management plans need approval from the forestry extension workers.
Results from the training include draft of a village forest management plan and recommendations for effective social forestry management.
