To enhance international exchange among forestry training institutions FORCLIME arranged a hospitation program with German provincial forest service training centres, started from 13th of August until 2nd of September 2018. Participants were the heads of regional branches of the national Indonesian Center of Environment and Forestry Education and Training and Human Resources Development (Pusat Diklat Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan) in Rumpin, West-Java and Samarinda, East-Kalimantan.
The program was arranged in cooperation with the German Forest Society (Deutscher Forstverein) in the framework of the German Government’s Forest Expert Program accessing the network of German forestry education and training institutions across the country. It covered topics regarding forestry academic education, systematic knowledge transfer in state forest education and training centres as well as practical forest management and on-the-job training in Forest Management Units (FMUs). In order to ensure a direct exchange between professionals visits were made to relevant institutions, where insights into daily work were provided. Among the visited facilities were University of Goettingen, Forest Education and Training Center Weilburg (HessenForst), Forest Education and Training Center Seesen-Muenchehof , FMU Seesen (both Lower Saxony State Forest Enterprise) and Harz National Park (Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt states). The hospitation program was specifically targeted for the principals of Indonesian regional forestry training centres to provide inspirations for design, organisation and implementation of trainings as well as to establish international partnership among training institutions.
Besides the official program several cultural side events were offered providing ample opportunity to get to know some sights in Germany and to experience the German way of life.
