Following the guidelines on forest management plan development, the forest production management unit (KPHP) Berau Tengah conducted a public consultation on 29 November in Tanjung Redeb, East Kalimantan. The meeting was attended by local stakeholders (government agencies, head of sub-districts, village government around the KPH area) and aims to obtain input for forest planning documents prepared by the KPHP Berau Tengah. All relevant issues have to be put into account for the development of the forest planning documents, such as the existing environmental conditions and cultural values of communities living around the forest, so that KPHP Berau Tengah can be implemented effectively and efficiently for the next 10 years.

The KPHP Berau Tengah covers of ± 336,987 hectares, dominated by production forest functions. The KPHP Berau Tengah management organization is currently still part of the KPHP Berau Barat (holding). Currently the development of forest management plans is in process, supported by the KPHP Berau Barat, technical unit of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in Samarinda, supported by GIZ.
